What is a Kingdom?

What do you think Jesus means when he talks about "The Kingdom of God " or "The Kingdom of Heaven"?   What does it mean to be a citizen of His Kingdom?  What does it say about Jesus being a Messiah in the line of David?  Where is the Kingdom? What do you think?  This has been something I have really been contemplating...

I think understanding the Kingdom of God is something sorely lacking at least within the American Church.

Not that I can say I completely understand it either but the Kingdom of God is bigger than we can imagine. It encompasses all believers across all denominations and beyond, it is continually advancing against the gates of Hell! It can not be stopped. It is coming and near but not yet fully realized. It is the influence of Christ from within His Church and without.

I think if we would start thinking more about the KoG we would be more united as one Church, we would think less about denominations and divisions. There would be less of "Us and Them" between believers and unbelievers even.

Anyway, I have been contemplating the KoG much as well and these are just some of my thoughts.

Looking forward to seeing you guys tonight!

I was just reading last night in my book on the New Testament cultural Setting about how a Kingdom in the Hellenistic world was not viewed as a territory but as a sphere of power. I think understanding the context of what Jesus means when He speaks of Kingdom helps too...
