Water Power Theory

So, here's my latest theory, I woke up this morning and it was the first thing I thought of. What if we put some sort of generater in our water pipes that used the natural water pressure created by the water towers and gravity to create electricity. I don't know the specifics of how it would work, but it seems possible. Let me know what you think.

There wouldn't be any net energy gain. It takes as much energy to pump the water into the water tower as it would create for the water to come down. Plus it would lessen your water pressure in your house.

there would be a net gain over the amount of energy we currently gain from water pressure. I understand it may negate the energy that it takes to pump the water up, but it's currently a source we aren't even tapping into.

As for the lessened water pressure, I agree that it would lessen it, but I think with technology today we could figure out a way to alleviate a lot of the resistance the generators might cause...
